When I was tasked with chairing a large charity fundraising auction for a non-profit I am involved with, I came to realize first-hand the many volunteer hours that go into charitable fundraising.

While auctions, galas, golf tournaments, luncheons, community festivals and home tours all contribute to the sense of community within a non-profit organization, in some cases the time invested in organizing these fundraising initiatives doesn’t produce a commensurate financial return.

When evaluating the existing fundraising ideas available to non-profits, I was disappointed by the limited range of high-quality options available to help charities achieve their fundraising goals.

We thought it would be great if we could enable non-profits to generate donations with a simple, turnkey concept designed to minimize volunteer hours while maximizing fundraising contributions.

Based on personal experience with dozens of charitable fundraising programs over the years, we also understand the importance of offering brand-name products and exceptional customer service to your organization’s supporters.

Additionally, since our inception we've continued to listen to the needs of our customers--both our online wine shop customers and charity partners. We found that nearly all of our non-profit partners host at least one--if not several--fundraising and donor appreciation event each year where wine is served.

While all of those organizations would like to get wine donated, it is not always feasible to get quality wine donated for all of an organization's events. Additionally, many organizations don't want to burn out their volunteers solicitation efforts, or ask too much year after year of the wineries and retailers from whom they are seeking donations. Also, we found that when they decide to purchase wine for their events, they were often doing it from grocery store or warehouse chain, which means that they were waiting for sales and then keeping their fingers crossed that those chains will have the wines they want at the right price in time for the event.

When they do make the purchase, it's a hassle since they're making multiple trips to the chain store to load their car with cases of wine. Then they need to unload the wine into a cool place in their office, home or garage to store the wine until the event...then load it back into the car to make multiple trips to the event venue.

Since we saw an opportunity to offer real value to the nonprofits by providing well-priced, quality wine in a convenient way we now also offer an Non-Profit Event Wine Program to fulfill those needs.
